The RJR News Center has confirmed that a fourth man on board the vessel died before they were rescued.

According to the Public Relations officer with the Royal Cayman Islands Police Force, Debra Dennis, the vessel drifted into Caymanian waters Tuesday afternoon and was spotted ten miles northwest of Grand Cayman.

"We received a call yesterday to the 911 centre at about 3:15pm from a man who reported that he was on a boat that had been drifting at sea for some days. He said there were four people on board, one of whom had passed away,"

"He said they had been drifting without food or water and he also said he could see what looked like a cruise ship,"

"So we used the information that he gave us and got in touch with the cruise ship and some other local boats in the area, we sent out our police boats and also a helicopter and carried out a search for the vessel,"

The three surviving men, whose identities have not been released, were suffering from dehydration, malnutrition and were incoherent.

"They were brought to shore by the police boat and the deceased man was also brought to shore by the Department of Environment vessel. The three men have since been taken to hospital and are being treated,"

"It is unclear how long the men have been at sea and our Criminal Investigation Department is looking into it to find out what happened and find our why these men were at sea for so long," she said.

She added that authorities here in Jamaica will be contacted in an effort to confirm the identities of the men.
