The Manchester Police are continuing their manhunt for
the mastermind behind the theft of a body from a Church Cemetery
in the parish on the weekend.Seven men implicated in the incident are now in custody and investigators are expected to question the men on Monday. The men were nabbed after the body of Ervin Sinclair was found in the trunk of a motor car on Saturday during a spot check on the Greenvale main road. Three cars have also been seized. The police say the mastermind behind the plot is believed to be an ex-policeman. Another suspect is also on the run. The police say the investigation has revealed that Mr. Sinclair's body, which weighed 600 pounds, was stolen to be used in an insurance fraud scam. According to information received by the RJR News Centre the body was to be burnt as part of the scam. The police say eight men were engaged and promised $200,000 each by the mastermind. One of the suspects was reportedly found with the notice of Mr. Sinclair's death which was cut from a Sunday newspaper. The police are alleging that the deceased fits the general description of another man involved in the scam. Mr. Sinclair's body was re-interred at the St. Jude's Anglican Cemetery in Prattville. |
