Three teenaged boys who were charged with human
trafficking following the alleged sexual assault of a school girl captured on
video, pleaded guilty on Friday. The school boys pleaded guilty in the Home Circuit Court and are to be sentenced next Wednesday. The boys have pleaded guilty, but the controversial adult figure at the heart of the incident, former church deacon, Donovan Jones, has maintained his innocence and is to stand trial on September 22. Deacon Jones and the three boys were indicted under the Child Care and Protection Act in 2006, for human trafficking of the 13-year-old school girl. They were originally charged with conspiracy, aiding and abetting indecent assault, nine counts of indecent assault and cruelty to a child after a video surfaced allegedly showing them assaulting the young girl. But those charges were later dropped. Deacon Jones who was attached to the Dayton Avenue Church of God in St. Andrew and the three school boys were arrested in July 2006 after the video was sent to the police and leaked to the media. |
