National Water Commission (NWC) customers will hear next
week whether they will have to pay more on their monthly bills. The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) said it will respond by Wednesday to a request from the NWC for a reconsideration of elements of the new tariff structure which took effect on May 1. The regulatory agency commenced a review on Thursday. Director of Consumer and Public Affairs at the OUR David Geddes said the entity will take into account two factors when making its decision. "The OUR in considering a request for reconsideration of our determination notice only takes tow factors into account - did we err in law or did we err in fact and that's the basis on which we will issue our decision on this reconsideration request," said Mr. Geddes.
As was first reported by RJR News on Thursday, the NWC
has asked the OUR to take a second look at the existing tariff regime. The request which was submitted to the OUR on Monday seeks, among things, a review of the Price Adjustment Mechanism (PAM). The NWC is proposing that the electricity component of the PAM be separated and passed on to its customers. |
