Opposition Leader Portia Simpson-Miller has written to
Prime Minister Bruce Golding seeking consensus on the terms of reference for
the upcoming Commission of Enquiry into the financial sector collapse of the
1990's.This was disclosed Thursday night by Opposition Spokesman on Finance Dr. Omar Davies. Speaking with RJR News, Dr. Davies said the Opposition is eager for the Commission to begin hearings as soon as possible. "The leader of the Opposition has written to the Prime Minister indicating that we need to finalize the terms of reference and some other things ... we want this to happen as soon as possible," Davies said. Dr. Davies said the People's National Party wants to have a say in constructing the terms of reference. RJR News understands that the Government is close to finalising the list of persons who will serve on the Commission of Enquiry. The matter is expected to be discussed by Cabinet before the end of the month. |
