Opposition Spokesman on Finance, Dr. Omar Davies.  As Parliament's Ethics Committee prepares to discuss reports of so-called ‘sweetheart' deals between former investment banking firm Dehring, Bunting & Golding (DB&G) and the previous Government, former Finance Minister Dr. Omar Davies has again sought to clear the air.

Speaking with RJR News Thursday night, Dr. Davies insisted that no deals took place.

"As Mr. Bunting said in his statement on Tuesday, they had discussed the deal but that deal didn't go through. I think exhibits six and seven of Mr. Shaw's own (budget) presentation indicated that DB&G was repaid."

Dr. Davies said the deal did not materialize as it was not approved by the Jamaica Redevelopment Foundation.

The Ethics Committee is scheduled to meet on Monday morning in the wake of claims made on Tuesday by Finance Minister Audley Shaw that the deals existed.

Opposition Spokesman on Industry Peter Bunting who headed DB&G has denied the allegations.
