Officials in Haiti report that at least 11
people, including five children, have died after an overcrowded passenger ship
sank off the southern coast. spokesman for the United Nations in Haiti said most of the estimated 100 persons aboard the crowded ferry were able to swim to safety. Rescuers are still looking for other survivors. The ship, which was travelling from a south-western port to the capital, Port-au-Prince, capsized after hitting a reef. |
