FINSAC’d group wants statements of accounts from JA Redevelopment Foundation PDF Print

The Association of FINSAC'd Entities (AFE) said it has collected nearly 800 names for a petition which is to be sent to Minister of Finance Audley Shaw.

Over the past two months, the group has been soliciting signatures from persons whose loans were sold by FINSAC following the banking sector crisis of the 1990's.

The move is part of a lobby to get the Golding administration to conduct a probe into FINSAC's operations.

"We have sent out to our supporters a demand letter that we are planning to publish in the papers next week asking persons who were FINSAC'd to fill out the information on that demand letter," said AFE Spokesperson Yola Grey, speaking with RJR 94FM's business news programme The Financial Report Thursday night.

She added that the demand letter is asking for Jamaica Redevelopment Foundation to provide statements of account to all the AFE's members whose accounts were passed to them by FINSAC.

The Association has, among other things, called for a Commission of Enquiry into the sale of FINSAC debts and assets to Jamaica Redevelopment Foundation.

The Group has also requested that all pending divestment of assets be put on hold until an audit is conducted.
