The Ministry of
Finance is expected to unveil its modified tax regime for motor vehicle imports
on Friday. The new tax structure is scheduled to be implemented on Monday. As was first reported by RJR News on Thursday, local car dealers have successfully lobbied the Government to change the duty regime which was announced last month by the Finance Minister. During a meeting on Wednesday, involving Minister Without Portfolio in the Finance Ministry Senator Don Wehby, it was agreed that the regime would be modified. The amendments have been given the thumbs up by car dealers. They were worried that the changes proposed by the Finance Minister during his Budget Presentation would have crippled the industry. |
