Portfolio in the Ministry of Finance Don Wehby is to receive a report on July
14 on the status of plans for the establishment of an international financial
services centre in Jamaica.International auditing firm KPMG has been contracted to conduct an in-depth assessment of the market and present recommendations. Mr. Wehby said several potential investors have expressed an interest in investing as soon as the necessary framework is in place. Jamaica is hoping to attract offshore companies, banks, as well as related entities to establish operations in Jamaica when the financial services centre is established. |
