Image  One of three Jamaicans held with cocaine in a dart board at Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Guyana last Friday was sentenced to four years in prison on Tuesday.

Michelle McKenzie of Negril, Westmoreland was fined 860,000 Guyanese dollars, the value of the drugs she was caught with.

The Court ordered that she be deported at the end of her sentence.

McKenzie, who is four months pregnant, pleaded guilty to having trafficked 956 grams of cocaine.

Her two alleged accomplices, Dwayne Oneil Morris, 28, an entertainer and sign artist, of Paradise Norwood, Montego Bay and Gaston Samuels, 38 of Johnstown in Lucea Hanover, pleaded not guilty to different charges.

Government Prosecutor Oswald Massiah successfully objected to bail for both men and their cases were put off till July 22.

Attorney-at-law Euclin Gomes, who represented all three Jamaicans, said McKenzie left behind a two-year-old child.

The lawyer said she came to Guyana because of the social and economic pressures she was enduring in Jamaica as a single parent.
