A 31-year-old
policeman was on Tuesday charged with conspiracy to kidnap and breaches of the
Corruption Prevention Act. Constable Omar Gordon was formally charged following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions. The police said their colleague was charged in connection with the disappearance of a man in Bogue Village in St. James last June. According to the police report, on Wednesday, June 13 of last year, Howard Pattico and a woman were at their house in Bogue Village. It is alleged that men armed with guns and wearing bullet proof vests and caps marked "POLICE" entered the house and robbed the couple of an undetermined sum of money. They left, taking Mr. Pattico with them. The kidnappers sped away in a getaway car which was allegedly driven by Constable Gordon. Mr. Pattico has not been seen or heard from since. The policeman is scheduled to appear in court on March 28. |
