Embattled former Junior Minister for Energy Kern Spencer
who has requested a leave of absence from Parliament will be away from Gordon
House for at least six weeks.Mr. Spencer has reportedly asked for leave until the Parliamentary Year ends on March 31. Chairman of the People's National Party's Region Five, Michael Peart, says Mr. Spencer's leave could be extended after that period. "Well he has asked the Speaker for a leave of absence for the end of this political year at the end of March. Assuming that the matter is still not resolved in the new political year he will ask for an extension of the leave of absence," said Mr. Peart. Mr. Spencer who is the Member of Parliament for North East St. Elizabeth has been embroiled in the Cuban Light Bulb Scandal. As was reported by RJR News on the weekend, Joseph Allen, a member of the PNP's National Executive Council will oversee the constituency's affairs while Mr. Spencer is on leave. |
