Caribbean Community Chairman, Owen Arthur, has pledged to lend economic assistance to Jamaica in the event there is wide scale destruction caused by Hurricane Dean.

Mr. Arthur says Jamaica has not made a request but CARICOM and Barbados stand ready to render any post-disaster support.

With Hurricane Dean impacting Dominica and St. Lucia on Friday, Mr. Arthur also pledged economic support for neighbouring Eastern Caribbean countries which might need immediate help.
