Image  There are still no further answers forthcoming from the executive director of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) about a welfare fund established at the agency.

Speaking on TVJ's Prime Times News on Wednesday Executive Director of the NSWMA, Joan Gordon Webley addressed concerns put forward by South East St. Andrew Member of Parliament, Maxine Henry Wilson about her using her position to gain favour with the constituents.

The Member of Parliament released to the media images of the NSWMA head distributing Christmas treats from a company vehicle.

In addressing the issue, Mrs. Gordon Webley said a welfare fund had been set up by her in her capacity as executive director of the agency.

She however made it clear that the operations were not being funded by the agency but by private supporters.

However there is still some mystery as to the formation of such a welfare fund and its operations.

RJR News spoke with the community relations Manager at the NSWMA, Michael Richards who said he was not aware of such a welfare fund being operated by the agency.

However he said since taking up her position as executive director more than a month ago Mrs. Gordon Webley has implemented several initiatives.

He further added that he is only aware of a Christmas treat that was carried out in the Riverton City area.

This he said was fully funded by the NSWMA.

When contacted Mrs. Gordon Webley declined to speak on how the welfare fund operates.

She told our news centre that she was in a meeting and would not be able to speak on the matter until Friday night.
