Twelve heads of states are set to participate in the fourth
Petrocaribe Conference, scheduled for Friday in Cuba. Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister, Alejandro Gonzalez, says the Presidents of Venezuela, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Haiti, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and Guyana as well as the Prime Ministers of Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Jamaica are scheduled to attend. Interim Cuban leader, Raul Castro, is set to head up the Cuban delegation. Petrocaribe was founded on June 29, 2005, during the first energy meeting held in Venezuela. This was part of an initiative to purchase oil on a preferential payment system. Twelve of the 15 CARICOM member states signed the agreement in 2005. |
