Stand in West Indies coach David Williams is calling on his team to avoid depending on only a few players as they look to square the five match One Day International (ODI) series against Australia.

The second match will take place on Monday in a day/night encounter in Adelaide.

Captain Chris Gayle and batting all-rounder Kieron Pollard are considered key cogs in the West Indies' line up but coach Williams says others will need to show their worth if the Windies are to level and go on to win the series.

"I think we have a decent all round team and every member have to play their part ... that's the key. We have enough experience in the team, with a strong batting line up and we're hoping the less experienced players will come good," Williams said.

Gayle praises Pollard

In the meantime, Pollard, who has been showing signs of improvement with both bat and ball, has come in for high praises from Gayle.

"Pollard has looked like a different, more confident player over the last couple of days. I'm happy with his performance but disappointed with the way he got out (during the Melbourne match as) that was crucial wicket for us.

"He seems a bit calmer to me ... the way he went about his batting, his selection was spot on but we lost him at a crucial time. I'm sure he'll get better as he's a good prospect to have in the team," Gayle said.

The Windies suffered a huge 113 run loss in the opening ODI in Melbourne.
