![]() Andrew Holness. Opposition Members of parliament and Senators descended on Gordon House demanding the early reconvening of the House to discuss the economic issues facing the country. However, speaking Wednesday on TVJ's morning programme, Smile Jamaica, Mr. Holness warned the Opposition to be careful of trivialising the country's institutions. "We see it as trivializing the role of parliament and making a mockery of parliament. The Opposition well knows that parliament cannot meet in the way that they have done it. Some people might say that it is a clever thing to do but we have to be careful that we don't undermine the institutions of our country," Mr. Holness said. The government announced Tuesday that Parliament will reconvene January 19, after the Cabinet wraps up its four day retreat which begins Thursday. |
