St. George's College secured their 19th
hold on the urban area ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup trophy when they twice
came from behind to defeat Bridgeport High 3-2 in a dramatic final at the
National Stadium Saturday afternoon.The teams were locked at 2-2 in the second period of extra time when St. George's was handed a penalty courtesy of a handball. Talisman McKaully Tulloch then handed the defending champions their sixth back to back Manning Cup titles. Manchester/STETHS DaCosta Cup final And a new champion will be crowned in the rural area DaCosta Cup following contrasting semi-final victories for Manchester High and St. Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) Saturday afternoon. Manchester advanced to their first DaCosta Cup final when they upset defending champions St. James High 3-0 on penalties after the teams were locked at nil all after full and extra time at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay. Custodian Michael Parcell proved the hero for Manchester with two saves after each team kicked three penalties. It was St James' second semi-final defeat at their home field at Jarrett Park this season, as they were beaten by Munro College in the final of Ben Francis Cup earlier this season. In the other semifinals, host St. Elizabeth Technical blanked Garvey Maceo 3-0. The finals of the competition will be played next Saturday at a venue to be announced. |
