![]() Peter Moses (the Gleaner). Mr. Moses will be joined by five other persons who have been appointed to the Consultative Monitoring Group. They are Cabinet Secretary Douglas Saunders, Financial Secretary Dr. Wesley Hughes, Lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Dr. Alvin Wint, Wayne Jones, President of the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions and Jean Lowrie-Chin, Communications Specialist. A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) said a representative of the Opposition is expected to be added to the group. The members will report to a Cabinet Sub-Committee chaired by the Prime Minister which will direct and oversee the overall restructuring of the public sector. That sub-Committee includes the Ministers of Finance, Labour and Social Security, National Security as well as the Attorney-General. The OPM statement added that the Consultative Monitoring Group will meet with the Sub-Committee on a quarterly basis and with the Public Sector Transformation Unit monthly or as the need arises. The team will review and provide feedback to the PSTU and the Cabinet Sub-Committee on the strategic direction, progress of the restructuring process and recommendations with regard to improvements in the public sector. |
