![]() Jakaya Kikwete, Tanzania President. President Jakaya Kikwete will be accompanied by his wife Salma. While in Jamaica, President Kikwete will look at tourism investment opportunities and is scheduled to meet with Tourism Minister Ed Bartlett. The Tanzanian President will also visit St. Ann, the home parish of National Hero, Marcus Garvey, as well as Liberty Hall, the former home of Garvey's Universal Negro Improvement Association. He will unveil the statue of Olympian, Herb McKenley, at the National Stadium on Tuesday. President Kikwete will also hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Bruce Golding at Jamaica House, and pay courtesy calls on Opposition Leader, Portia Simpson Miller, and former Prime Minister P.J Patterson. The highlights of his visit will be an address to a joint sitting of the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday and a state dinner to be hosted by Governor-General Sir. Patrick Allen Following his speech to Parliament, President Kikwete will be conferred with the Order of Excellence. This is Jamaica's third highest honour which was created in 2003 and is reserved for foreign Heads of State or Government. |
