| Two businessmen killed in Portland |

Two
men on Friday night became the latest murder victims in Portland. They were shot and killed at a bar at Long Bay in the parish. Dead are 53-year-old Michael Jones, an accountant of Brooklyn, New York and Windsor Forrest in the parish. The other man has been identified as 35-year-old businessman, Orville Dibbon of Black Rock, also in the parish. Police report that Mr. Jones was at a bar about 10:30 when a man reportedly walked in and ordered a drink. The man then pulled a firearm and shot Mr. Jones. Mr. Dibbon who drove up to the bar shortly after the shooting was attacked and shot by another man outside the establishment. The two gunmen then fled the scene. Mr. Jones was pronounced dead on spot. Mr. Gibbons died while being treated at hospital. No motive has been established for the killings. In the meantime, police have identified the robber who was killed on Monday during the attempted robbery at the Buff Bay Branch of the Portland Co-op Credit Union. He is 19-year-old Omar Duhaney of a Kingston address. His injured cronies remain in hospital. |
