A St. Elizabeth teacher who was charged in February
with fraudulent conversion is again facing a similar charge. Alwayne Jackson, 30, of Hodges has been slapped with a second charge of fraudulent conversion after he failed to deliver on the purchase of a motor car for a colleague. Mr. Jackson was offered $100,000 bail by the Black River Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday. The court was told that a colleague paid him $1.3 million to secure a vehicle for her but when the vehicle was not delivered and the money not returned, the woman reported the matter to the police. Mr. Jackson who was arrested and charged is to return to court on September 16. In February, Mr. Jackson was hauled before the court under similar circumstances. In that instance, he had been given US$15,000 in September 2008, to purchase a vehicle for a man. Following several failed attempts by the man to get back his money, the complainant made a report to the police. That matter is also to be heard on September 16 when Mr. Jackson returns to court. |
