Friday, 03 July 2009
WI Captain Chris Gayle. In a frustratingly stop-and-start affair with several rain interruptions, West Indies went down by six wickets to India in the third game of their fourth match one day international series at the Beausejour Stadium in St. Lucia.

The Indians actually snatched a last over win after Jerome Taylor was chosen to bowl ahead of Ravi Rampaul with the tourists needing 11 runs off six balls.

West Indies, led by Ramnaresh Sarwan's 62, made 185 for 7 at the end of their allotted 27 overs.

Captain Chris Gayle 27, Runako Morton 24 and Darren Bravo 21 also made useful contributions for the West Indies who named an unchanged squad.

Asish Nehra 3-23 and Harbhajan Singh 2-35 shared the wickets.

Two interruptions because of rain left India with a target of 159 off 22 overs and when play resumed for the final time, they required 64 off 51 balls with nine wickets in hand.

Denesh Karthick 47, Gautam Gambir 44 and man of the match M.S. Dhoni 46 saw them through.

The teams will be back at it for the final game at the same venue on Sunday.

India are now on the verge of completing a hattrick of ODI series wins this year, all overseas with the previous victories coming against Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
