![]() JTA President Doran Dixon. The teachers say if a favourable response is not given by the end of this week they may have no choice but to contemplate taking action. Among the steps the Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA) is thinking of taking is reporting the manner in which the government has dealt with the issue of the payment to the International Labour Organization (ILO). President of the JTA Doran Dixon says this was put forward in a resolution when the group met on the weekend. "The resolution spoke to the issue of the government not holding to their part of the bargain and in an effort to cause the government to give due consideration to their obligation we would be prepared to report the matter to the ILO," Mr. Dixon said. The retroactive payments were due to be paid to teachers in this month's salaries. The payments are due under a Heads of Agreement signed earlier this year between the JTA and the Finance Ministry. |
