Usain Bolt emerged the
only double winner at the three day National Senior Track and Field
Championships which ended at the National Stadium on Sunday.Bolt completed the sprint double after posting a modest 20.25 seconds to win the 200 metres ahead of Steve Mullings 20.40 and Marvin Anderson 20.63. Two time Olympic champion Veronica Campbell-Brown took the women's equivalent in a smart 22.40 seconds while Shelly Ann Fraser did 22.58 seconds and Simone Facey 22.96 seconds. Ricardo Chambers clocked 45.55 seconds to reclaim the men's 400 metres title ahead of Allodin Fothergill who clocked 45.57 and Lansford Spence 45.78. Novlene Williams-Mills posted a season's best 50.21 seconds to win the women's equivalent, holding off Olympic silver medalist Shericka Williams in a season's best 50.39 seconds and Christine Day 51.54. Kenia Sinclair's two minutes and 01.63 seconds took the women's 800 metres while Aldwyn Sappleton prevailed in the men's equivalent in one minute 48.20 ahead of Ricardo Cunningham one minute 48.21 seconds. In the sprint hurdles, Dellorren Ennis London won in 12.79 seconds ahead of Brigitte Foster Hylton and Lacena Golding-Clarke. Maurice Wignall secured the men's 110 metres hurdles in a season's best 13.48 seconds ahead of Dwight Thomas and Richard Phillips. In the field events, Alain Bailey produced a life time best 8.21 metres to prevail in a competitive men's long jump ahead of Julian Reid 8.18 metres and Nicholas Gordon 8.11 metres. National record holder Dorian Scott heaved 20.20 metres to retain his title in the men's shot putt. |
