Haiti's Prime Minister to face vote of no confidence PDF Print
Tuesday, 02 October 2007
Haiti's Prime Minister Jacque Eduard Alexi goes before an assembly of senators next week to face a vote of no-confidence.

Mr. Alexi will have the task at the October nine session of convincing the senators that his government is functioning effectively.

Many Haitians are reportedly complaining about the high cost of living and lack of job opportunities.

The government has repeatedly said that they lack means to implement projects that could really make a difference in the living standards of the population.

But they have underlined a series of progress made in terms of macroeconomic management, financial management and also other issues in terms of fighting corruption and fighting drug trafficking.

So far the government continues to enjoy good support from the population even though the situation is difficult.

But if nothing is done to implement the projects that are going to impact the day to day lives of the population such as the high cost of living and other problems there could be more resentment.
