Friday, 09 January 2009
Image Despite being beset by problems Jamaica's sugar industry could see an increase in export earnings this year.

The sector earned US$90 million from the sale of 135,000 tons of sugar last year.

Stakeholders are trying to increase output to 139,000 tons this year.

General Manager of Jamaica Cane Products Sales Limited, Karl James, said developments in the foreign currency market will help to boost revenues for the sector.
