| STATIN reports third quarter decline |

This is when compared to the same quarter in the previous year, 2007 The decline was reflected in the Goods Producing industries which fell by 2.2 percent. This was influenced by the decline in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and Construction. However, higher output levels of 5.7 percent and 0.5 percent were recorded in Mining and Quarrying and Manufacturing. There was also an increase of 0.3 percent in the services industries- reflecting improved performance in areas that included electricity and water, finance and insurance services, real estate , renting and business activities. Areas of decline included the wholesale and retail trade and producers of government services. According to STATIN, when compared to the previous quarter, the economy remained relatively unchanged. |
