The Human Resource Management and Development section of the Jamaica Constabulary Force has invited applications from suitably qualified candidates to join an elite core of District Constables.

The successful candidates will be employed on a full time and or part time basis.

According to newspaper advertisements the prospective applicants will provide support to the JCF at the community level.

Duties include taking of statements and reports in criminal matters.

Male and female applicants may also be called upon to provide security services to various Schools, Ministries and Departments and Ministerial residences, among other duties.

The recruitment exercise comes on the heels of recent pronouncements by Prime Minster Bruce Golding that a new regime was being put in place to protect children on their way to and from schools.

According to Mr. Golding, Police Commissioner Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin is currently introducing District Constables in as many schools as possible while strengthening the security arrangements of the safe-school zones.

Applications close on December 12.
