Image  A Montego Bay woman is behind bars for human trafficking after she was reportedly caught using teenaged girls to work in her Bar and Exotic club.

Over the weekend, the police carried out an operation in Granville where they searched the Granville Exotic Night Club operated by Imogene Chinnock and found a 16-year-old girl in a compromising position with two men.

A skimpily attired 17-year-old girl was also discovered inside the club dancing.

Miss Chinnock was arrested and charged with human trafficking.

One of the girls had reportedly absconded from a Place of Safety in Kingston.

Increased police presence

Superintendent Maurice Robinson, in charge of St. James, says the police will be beefing up operations at places known to be frequented by youngsters.

"We'll be targeting drug bases, places of amusement where minors frequent ... we'll be speaking to the operators of these centers to tell them not to encourage minors to attend their business places ... we'll also be targeting place where the lotto scam operators carry out their business ... we know these places and they'll be strictly monitored with a view to arresting these individuals."

For some time, concerned citizens have been complaining about teenaged girls being used at massage parlours, nightclubs and other entertainment venues, where large sums are being charged for sexual and other services.

Human trafficking is defined as a modern-day form of slavery in which its victims, usually underage girls, are forced or otherwise coerced into sexual exploitation or forced labour.
