Image Twenty-six year old Danielle Ciani Spencer, sister of Peoples National Party Member of Parliament Kern Spencer, appeared in the Half-Way-Tree Criminal Court Wednesday on fraud charges.

Ms Spencer of a Spathodia Way, Black River, St Elizabeth address, is accused of fraud in an alleged overseas employment racket.

She was charged last Friday following an investigation by the Fraud Squad.

Investigators report that Ms Spencer who operates the Jamaica Job Search, an overseas employment company in Black River, attended the University of Technology campus between February and April this year, where she introduced students to an overseas employment programme.

She reportedly told them that she could secure overseas jobs on their behalf.

Her offer attracted the interest of one of the students who allegedly paid Ms Spencer $60,000 to participate in the programme.

According to the police, they were called after Ms Spencer failed to deliver on the job offer and refused to refund the money to the 21 year old student.

Ms Spencer was taken into custody last Friday and later charged with obtaining money by means of false pretence.

The police further report that they made checks with the Ministry of Labour which reported that Ms Spencer is not registered to offer such services.

Her $50,000 bail was extended by Senior Magistrate Glen Brown until November 4.
