A new group is charging that the government is incapable
of protecting its citizens and should therefore liberalise the process of
issuing licensed firearms. The National Gun Rights Association (NGRA) is calling on the Firearm Licensing Authority to immediately speed up the processing of the thousands of firearm applications which the group says are on file. Chairman of the organisation Shawn Johnson says the society is doing law-abiding citizens an injustice by making it difficult to get legal weapons. "Every adult who wants to own a gun who has no criminal record, no physical disability and can show their competence and has no mental disability should be able to own a firearm," Mr. Johnson said. According to the organization, with more licensed firearm holders, the country will see a marked reduction in crime. |
