Police and customs officials are investigating the
discovery of drugs in a transshipment container at the Kingston terminal Wednesday. The container was en route to China from Guyana. Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Deloree Staple-Chambers told our news centre that the officials found 11 packages stuffed with cocaine. "The Customs enforcement team has been investigating what seems to be a new trend in the drug smuggling arena. Acting on intelligence the container was intercepted and the cocaine found," she said. She noted that although the container was destined for China, the cocaine was scheduled to be collected here in Jamaica. |
