Antigua
and Barbuda police Monday charged a man and
a teenager with the murder of Benjamin and Catherine Mullany, the British couple
who were killed while on honeymoon. Police say the men, whose names have not been disclosed, were among eight persons held for questioning last week. In a brief statement, Inspector Cornelius Charles said the pair, aged 20 and 17, appeared in court and are also charged with robbery and receiving stolen goods. Police had been questioning the two accused over the weekend after raids on their homes. Last Thursday, two women were arrested and taken before a magistrate to face charges for offences connected to the murders. Their names were also not disclosed. The Mullanys were shot at a hotel on the island's south coast on July 27. Mrs. Mullany, a medical practitioner, died instantly while her husband died a week later after he was flown to Wales for further medical treatment. Eight detectives from Britain's Scotland Yard have been assisting local law enforcement officials in probing the case. |
