Probe continues into disappearance of missing men PDF Print
Thursday, 24 July 2008

Image  There are new developments in the probe into the disappearance of two men from a plaza on Washington Boulevard almost four years ago.

The case was reopened earlier this year when new information emerged.

In April, the information regarding the disappearance of the two men prompted a fresh investigation with the use of the latest technology.

The investigation is being conducted by Operation Kingfish.

Two senior specialist homicide investigators from the United Kingdom, visited the island in April and began a review of the earlier investigation.

The review team returned to Jamaica last Monday, to provide the latest information to investigators, senior officers and the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mark Shields said the investigation is progressing well.

However, he said it would be inappropriate to give details of the current status of the investigation.

DCP Shields said when the review team previously visited Jamaica, they provided a local cell number and asked anyone with information to contact them.

This he said proved highly successful and produced significant leads.

On Thursday December 23, 2004 at approximately 3:00 pm, Kemar Walters and Oliver Duncan went to the Washington Plaza, Patrick City in a blue Honda CRV registered 5649 DZ to purchase welding rods.

Walters and Duncan were last seen in the car park in the presence of men carrying firearms and wearing vests marked "Police".

The men were reportedly in a red Honda sedan and a white station wagon.

The men handcuffed Walters and Duncan and placed them in the back seat of the red Honda sedan. The three vehicles were then driven from the plaza.

On Saturday December 25, 2004, the Blue Honda CRV was found burnt out in Port Royal. The bodies of Kemar and Oliver were never found, and it is believed they were abducted and murdered.
