Lawyers representing Steven Causewell, the man detained in connection
with the death of his ex-girlfriend Nardia Mitchell, 28, a make-up artist who fell from the fourth floor of the Oaklands Apartment in St. Andrew, have filed a writ
in court seeking his release.
Attorney Michael Deans on thursday asked Senior Magistrate Glen Brown to release his client.
He argued that Mr Causewell has been in custody since July 16, without charge. He insisted that his client had nothing to do with the death of Ms Mitchell, who was allegedly thrown from the window of her apartment. According to Mr. Deans, his client has cooperated fully with the cops by giving a voluntary statement on what happened on the day in question. The attorney told the Magistrate that he has new information on the case, hinting that Ms Mitchell may have played a role in her own death. Mr. Deans said he will disclose the information on Friday when investigators are expected to address the magistrate.
