Two Jamaican fishermen have been found off the coast of Cayman Brac near Grand Cayman.
However, it's not yet clear whether the men are members of the group of four which went missing from the Pedro Banks on Saturday night. The men were found in a 40 foot yellow canoe at 6 O'clock this morning. Shipping Advisor for the Cayman Islands, Raymond Scott, said that the men, who were dehydrated, have been taken to hospital for treatment. The men were sighted yesterday, but poor visibility forced the Cayman officials to call off the search until Thursday morning. Mr. Scott said "they were first sighted late yesterday evening, and the search had to be called because of darkness coming down and they didn't find them." They had reportedly been at sea for six days. However no one from the local Marine police, Jamaica Defence Force, Coast Guard, or the fisheries division could shed light on the fishermen's rescue. |
